Where to Find the Best Selection of Audio Books

As an audio book fan, I am constantly on the look out for great sources of audio books. The two sources I have come to like best are Castlibrary for newer books and Librivox for classic books.

The reason I am partial to Castlibrary is that has a huge selection of audio books that you can download and play on iPods, iPhone, iPads, Android phones and a bunch of other devices. The other reason is that I find the site to be really easy to use. I just type in what I want into the search box, hit enter and the site produces the search results I’m looking for. I guess it can do that because it has such a large collection that makes it quite likely that they will have what I’m looking for.

The other site on my list is quite different. Librovox was started as a not for profit venture to use volunteers to read books and create audio books. The only books they can do this with are books that are in the so called public domain. That basically means old books where the author has been dead for a very long time. The public domain should be larger, but our stupid Congress is so in love with the entertainment industry that the screw over the publics rights and give their cronies extra long copyright protection.

But even though Libivox is limted to the public domain, there are still a lot of really good books available to listen to. Books like Huckleberry Finn, Tom Sawyer, The Three Muskateers, Pride and Predjudice and many more are waiting for you to try them.

The bottom line is that if you want to listen to new premium audio book downloads I suggest you give Castlibrary.com a try and if you want classics check out Librivox.
